IT IS COSTING the organising committee of the Oistins Fish Festival more than $100 000 to stage the annual event and the support of at least one lead corporate sponsor would go a long way towards meeting the challenge.


A MEMBER of the sea side community since 1985, Chefette Restaurants had no second thoughts about throwing support behind the annual Oistins Fish Festival.


THE Oistins Queen Of The Festival Beauty Pageant will be back for next year's Fish Festival.
This time it will be organised and managed by a sub-committee of the Oistins Fish Festival (OFF) Committee, which has remodelled the pageant to meet international standards and match the now 32­year-old Fish Festival's rating as one of Barbados' seven national festivals. more>>


THE NAME BERINDA COX will be forever immortalised now that the Oistins Fish Market has been renamed in her honour.

Minister of Transport and Works and Member of Parliament for Christ Church South John Boyce made the announcement yesterday at the launch of the 32nd Oistins Fish Festival.

THE 2009 OISTINS FISH FESTIVAL is expected to be the most exciting Easter weekend
extravaganza since the inaugural event in the South Coast fishing town 32 years ago.

Planning is now in the final stages for marine activities, including swimming contests and
boat racing, to precede the festival's April 11 opening.


Visual artists Arlette St Hill and Kathleen Yearwood will showcase 100 pieces of original artwork at the Gallery of Barbadian Art and there will be new attractions at the Police Tattoo
on the Foundation School grounds on April 9.


Foundation, celebrating its 200th anniversary, will play a leading role in this year's festival. Former student Judith Gill will deliver the Sir Harold St John Oistins Fish Festival Lecture at the Christ Church Parish Centre on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. She will speak on the topic Foundation: "The Oistins Connection - More Than A Matter Of Proximity"

Thousands are expected in the Christ Church fishing village at 4:30 p.m. for Minister of
