A MEMBER of the sea side community since 1985, Chefette Restaurants had no second thoughts about throwing support behind the annual Oistins Fish Festival. It began the same year with sponsorship of the National Fish Boning Competition and in 2007 the organisation expanded support to embrace the Catch of the Season initiative. Come Monday, April 5 - Easter Monday - competitors will be asked to demonstrate their speed and skills in both competitions . The wirer of the fish boning event will receive a trophy and a cheque for $1 400; the first runner up will be rewarded with a cheque for $1 000, while the second runner up will pocket a cheque for $500. Whoever comes out tops in the Catch of the Season contest will receive $800 and a trophy. The first runner up will take away $500, and the second runner up will receive $400. Emphasising the company's commitment to giving something back to society, advertising manager Lisa Carter said: "We recognise the important role the fishing industry plays in the community and the wider economy, and Chefette was happy to sponsor the twocompetitions that showcase the skills of those involved."
