Organisers of the Oistins Fish Festival are upbeat about commemorating this year's festival. The South Coast-held festival, now in its 30th year, began with a church service on Sunday and patrons can expect a number of exciting attractions right through to Monday (Easter Bank Holiday).
"Oistins is fast becoming one of the most popular attractions. in Barbados ... The feedback from our trade partners, travel agents and travel Press has been very positive with a high percentage of them describing it as the highlight of their visit," said Bernard Phillips, Special Projects Manager, Barbados Tourism Authority, at the festival's official launching

Phillips said Barbados was receiving exposure in the market
place as "this year we will be hosting the Great Outdoors
Television Station of Australia at the Oistins Fish Festival," he said.
Dan Carter, chairman of the Oistins Fish Festival Committee, noted that the event experienced a
number of challenges "but we have been able to sustain it over the years".
The festival would see the reintroduction of the pageant which was held on Sunday.
Junior Walrond, deputy chair of the festival, said a number of people would be awarded this year for their contribution to the festival over the years.
